If you have adopted an animal from a shelter or rescue, it is most helpful to add 4 drops of Trauma Remedy to their water dish for the first few days in their new home. If you already have other pets at home, add Quaking Grass as well. This essence helps pets accept new members of the household, flock, herd, and/or community.

For your convenience, I have grouped these essences together by alphabetical order.
Please click on the different alphabet groups below for easy access to the list.

Flower Essences for Critters
Dogs Looking Out Window
Flower essences are highly diluted tinctures in which the solvents are spring water and the sun. Brandy is added as a preservative. Flower essences work on emotional, mental, behavioral, and spiritual levels and belong to a category of medicine called vibrational healing or energy medicine. Flower essences correct energy imbalances and disruptions so that healing may begin. Other modalities of vibrational medicine include homeopathy, acupuncture, magnetic therapy, and gem and crystal healing.

Flower essences do not interfere with other forms of treatment such as homeopathy, herbal, or conventional medicine. The standard dosage is 4 drops in a water dish or 12 drops in the trough for our animal friends. You may also put 12 drops of the essence in a 4-ounce atomizer bottle with distilled water and spray the essence or, for animals, 4 drops on their paws. You may take the essence(s) for a month if you are working on a long-standing condition, or you may need to only take them for only a few days. Many of the following essences and definitions come from The Flower Essence Repertory by Patricia Kaminski and Richard Katz. In some cases, I have expanded on the indications according to my personal experience with the essences and added essences that are described in other books on flower essences. To find out more about flower essences and their healing power for animals and their people, I have included a list of recommended reading at the close of this list.

If you have only one flower essence in your first aid kit, in the house or in your purse--this should be the one!

Critters
You cannot overdose on the flower essences.
Standard dosage is 4 drops in community water dish or 1 dropperful in trough. I give them a few drops directly into their mouths when possible.  Kitties do not like it given directly, however. The brandy bothers their stomachs.  I stick to the water dish and paws for cats, or I put 4 drops in a very small amount of broth--beef or chicken.

You may also put 12 drops of the essence in a 4-ounce atomizer bottle filled with distilled water and spray the essence, brushing or rubbing it into their coat.  You may also put 4 drops on their paws, nose, or anywhere they might lick it off.  It is not quite as effective to give it in their food or on treats, but I do this when I have to.  I have often squirted remedies right onto grain. I also like to put the essences on my fingers and rub the horse just above the lip or on the head between the eyes. You cannot overdose on flower essences.  They are most effective when given frequently; 4-8 times per day is ideal.
